As if against his will, Uva flashed a polite smile and bowed to her. “Thank you, Fries-san. I strive to be as polite and well-mannered as I can be.”

Fries smiled, “See? Isn’t this much nicer than going around being upset with people all the time? I’m so proud of you.”

“Unfortunately ma’am it is not permanent. But I will make the best of what time I have.”

Fries smiled a bit, “You’ve come a long way. Stay and rest a while. IT’s always nice to have company.”

Atsuko nodded. “Thank you. What about you, though?”

“Oh the usual…” Fries smiled a bit, “Uva came back, and I’ve been looking after him again, even though Shoutarou doesn’t like it.”

“Uva?”

“He’s some kind of bug monster made of medals. He slammed my head into a wall and kidnapped me once.” Fries smiled pleasantly, “He was a troubled boy, but he’s doing much better since he’s come home again.”

Acchan blinked… “He… slammed your head into a wall? And then he kidnapped you?”

Fries nodded, “It bled quite a bit. I’m not even sure why he kidnapped me. But he was possessed by someone else, so really it wasn’t his fault. The poor thing.”

“Oh… okay,” she told her, sighing. “I missed being in Fuuto…”

“I bet Fuuto’s missed you too. I know I was concerned about where you’d gone. But that’s what children do. They leave the nest.”

Acchan finally arrived to the Narumi Detective Agency. She felt that there was someone she needed to see after all her time away… So with a bit of difficulty (moving her arms still hurt, after all), she knocked on the door to the agency. “Fries-san? Are you here?”

Fries looked up from cleaning and answered the door. She was still a moment, then smiled, “Ah!! Welcome back!” She smiled and showed Acchan inside. “Can I get you anything dear? Come now, sit down. Let me get you a cup of coffee…”

“Thank you…” Acchan told her, walking inside. “It’s been a while.”

Fries smiled and got her a cup of coffee, sitting down with her. “It has. Tell me about where you’ve been.”

“Finland…” Atsuko said. “I was working on a case… it was odd for me to have one that was so far away, but…” She then shook her head. “Well, I’m all fine!”

Save for the bruises and bandages all over her, she was telling the truth.
